The Walls
Robert Frost comes to mind right now. There are some guys in my backyard building a wall. I didn't ask for it. They built it once, but in the wrong place. Then they tore it down yesterday. Then they put it back up again.
Across the street they tore down a low wall, ripped out all the growth on the empty lot, and now built walls 3 meters high. Who knows what sort of devilry they are walling in, or walling out.
Then there are the walls in my own heart. The wall out life and pain, and they wall in life and pain. It is good to keep pain from pain… to keep from becoming blind and toothless as we live by Old Testament law. It is death to not let love touch love, life touch life.
